Overall I'd say there's big improvements to the game following the first patch on ps4, and it has definitely made the game much more enjoyable to play. Improvements I've noticed so far: AI is far smarter and seems to play much more proper rugby instead of the very close game it played before the patch. Number 8 pickup seems better, seems to get off the back of the scrum quicker and with some forward momentum. Passing seems better but still random miss passes when there's a player next to you and the game misses them out. The Visuals are improved, although it still seems like a lot of elements aren't properly rendered (still a bit blocky/pixelated), and it still takes a age in player creator for things like tattoos and eyebrows to load on to the player. Much quicker ball from the rucks and not always having to wait for the 9 to get there. Far less turnovers, really have to be in a position to compete now to win the ruck. Things that still need to be improved: Running support lines still need improved, especially for breaks down the middle and wing, there's no support, or if there is it's too far back, especially on the outside when cutting in with the Winger to draw the last man. Forwards still standing still in pods taking the pass from the ruck. They need to have some forward momentum. The 10 NEEDS to be the first receiver from scrum or line-out, unless a set move or a user controlled miss pass is selected. It seems to be pot luck, possibly to do with the makeup of the line out and chosen line out receiver, whether a normal pass goes to the 10 from your own line out or to another random back, whereas if you steal a line-out the 10 generally gets the pass. From the scrum, unless you use the L1/R1 method where the 10 receives the ball standing still the pass goes to the 12. This must be user controlled and the 10 should always be the primary receiver with momentum from the scrum, again unless its a set move or the user selects a miss pass by using the miss pass method. Kicking, scrum and line out meter still blurred. AI Fullback positioning in defence. They are still missing at the back and are in the defensive line for no resson. Also they are still running parallel or totally the wrong way and not going for the player making the sprint down the park in defence. Visuals still need a bit of work to smooth and quicken them up. New bugs/issues: The AI seems to have forgotten how to make substitutions. I've played half a dozen 10 minute games and apart from forced injury changes they have made no substitutions. Not sure if it's linked, but the fatigue drain for the forwards seems to be less now. Very rarely are the forwards in the red after 65 minutes whereas before the patch they were. I think this needs to be reverted back to how it was so enforced substitutions are required. The backs seems to drain a bit more now which is good, but I think it needs a bit more added to it, most of them are still only losing 10-15% for the whole match. When selecting the 10 to drop back in the pocket for a drop goal, he moved back but when I pressed L1/R1 the 9 passed to the 12, who was flat and not my selected team kicker (the 10 was). Not so much a bug but what is with this back formation from a line out? The Winger has come into second receiver and actually received the pass, the inside and outside centres have swapped round and moved out and the Fullback is in the centre? This needs looked at!
Wishlist: Still no option to edit star players attributes, positions or accessories, which would vastly improve the playability of the game in my opinion as it would allow for total user preferences. If this isn't going to be possible can you at least let us know so we can start creating our own copies to get things right? Logo creator for strips. Ability to download strips from the fanhub and to sort players by rating or number of downloads. Conclusion: Overall thoughts are that if this is the improvements we've had after the first patch, I am very optimistic that if the above points are looked at and worked on/corrected, this has the potential to be a very good game, probably the best rugby game yet.
