This is a nice set of gameplay changes, for sure. AFL 2's marking system could be applied here as a basis for a contested catching mechanic.
I'd like to add a few things:
Defense:
A jockey/strafe defending mechanic like Fifa or Madden
Hold L2. While engaged, the defender is less likely to be beaten by ball-carrier moves (the extent of which to be determined by the defenders stats vs ball-carrier stats) and has a higher tackle chance, but is slower and won't cause knock-ons.
A hit stick tackle
Flick the right stick at the right time for a bone-crunching tackle with a high chance of the ball-carrier losing the ball. The tackle radius for this should be the smallest, and mistiming should cause the defender to stumble.
Offense:
More evasive ball-carrier options.
A sprint and side-step doesn't quite cover how an athlete uses footwork to setup and evade a defender. Quick cuts, stop-starts, goose-steps, spins--all of these could be incorporated into the locomotion system to give the ball-carrier more tools.
More strength-based ball-carrier options.
I'd love to see a bump-off at speed a la Rene Ranger, the effectiveness depending on the ball-carrier's weight, current speed, strength stats, and skill stats versus the defender's weight, current speed, strength stats, and skill stats.
General:
Limit three players per side to a ruck, or allow the ball to get out faster because having 5 to 6 players bound to the ruck really kills your attack (not to mention you'll rarely ever see such a thing in real life.)
On-field player ambient noise. I hope the sound design is much improved from the last iteration in general, but as a nice immersive touch, it'd be cool to hear players shout out calls and directions during the match (Madden has a limited, but mixed variety of on-field voice lines that add a lot to the immersion factor.) Communication is a huge part of the game.
Hi @ODD1X and @HisGreal! Some really great ideas put forward from you both. We not only appreciate your suggestions but admire the amount of thought and time gone into these specific plays and ideas. We keep a close eye on what our fans are saying and hope to get similar analysis / discussions like yours here on wickedsports.
It's just disappointing that the pc players get left out again even after all the delays now we have to wait even longer for the game why can't it also be released in early access alongside the consoles? Since both will be digital?
Hello guys!
Something I would like to see is the mud on the players, kits and on the field as the game goes on.
Also a manual replay option to see the reps carefully.
Thank you!
Hi WW team, thanks for the work so far. Looking forward to playing the game tomorrow. i have a small suggestion in that the all blacks should all be wearing black boots. Ive seen the screenshot of some of the players wearing red boots. In real life they are not allowed to wear boots other than black. If you want to keep the realism this would be a small update for the next version.
Hi @tjboehner ! Nice spotting however, this is not always the case for the All Blacks (see attached). Although they do look great in the black boots I must say!
My bad, it was apparently just for the build up to, and at the recent world cup. I couldn’t remember where i read it until i checked just now on an old article from the NZ Herald website. But still something which could be introduced In the game, as it just looks way cooler.

Please could we have all of the premiership stadiums, such as the rec, Allianz park, AJ bell, Sandy park and all of the other missing premiership stadiums. If there are more licensed stadiums it will be more realistic
Yet again it would appear no thought has gone into preventing the ref strip from clashing with one of the teams strips, seen loads of footage of this already, white ref strip, white player strip. Surely this is an easy fix?

It's good to know you're listening! I'll definitely be getting my hands on this tomorrow.
No worries, I just saw that the game will be available tomorrow?, Can't wait to dig in! 😁
Yeah that’s right! Early Access will be available tomorrow and we’re looking forward to seeing you guys in there, having a jam.

When can we expect the pc version?
Can we merge existing "wishlist threads" and pin it to de-clutter.
