How improving career mode can save rugby challenge 4!
Alright everyone and especially developers I wanted to talk about career mode.
I know you guys have mentioned on the website that there will be improvements into career mode but I’m writing this to give my opinion on how career mode can improve your game.
Career mode is a wonderful concept and can keep players occupied for weeks, months and even years. However in rugby challenge 3 playing career mode became more of a chore due to the lack of depth in the game mode it’s self
After watching a video by popular YouTuber cornf1ake it’s disappointing to see that there has been no changes in how career mode operates and to me that doesnt bode well for rc4 https://youtu.be/OtmqqkdOsIY
So what does career mode need?
For me what I see career mode needing is:
- Player Progression
Older players need to regress and younger players need to progress. With this you can nurture the young players to get to the likes of barrets and kolbes. Instead we just have 40 rated players vs 40 rated players and trying to immerse yourself into the game is nearly impossible.
- Rookie/ Academy system
In order for young players to progress they need to come from somewhere instead of just being able to be drafted,a basic academy system to start with would be perfect, all rookies can be auto generated and have different set potentials. I believe the better teams produce better talents
- Tours against teams e.g super rugby teams against british and Irish lions. This would be fantastic instead of playing bore friendlies. If lisences for these teams isnt possible then just make em up!
- AI plays there best team and in correct positions
In 3 seasons at the crusaders will Jordan started to play into scrum half. Makes no sense to me the best players should play in there in best positions
- Advanced drafting period
For me the drafting period is boring and a bit terrible, the more money you throw at them they eventually come. In real life England players can’t play for England if they leave the country so this should lower the chance of signing anyone and instead progressing rookies.
Developers I know you’re working hard and i love how you’re listening and trying to give us a great game but we need this for the longevity of the game. Hope this doesnt fall under deaf ears
Hi there in career mode. please younger players with the age of lets say 18 with a overall of 69 over a couple of seasons at the ago 25 to have a overall of 85. i mean that player will be ready for test rugby then he can play for the Springboks , All blacks or England ......please put it in career mode we need it in career mode,,,,,,,,and if use can put in the June tour and November tours that will be great and with that the ranking system so after a few seasons we can see whos the number 1 international team in the game world
In addition another idea I saw from another fan of the game was this;
” I also thought what about you start with a currie cup team get promoted after lets say 3 seasons to a super rugby coach based on your performance the better the club and after that bassed on your performance you get promoted to a national team?
And maybe get offers from other clubs it wil keep it interesting“
I think this is a great idea and again increases the longevity of the game and also the overall immersion
you could also add in team roles like is in pro evo, and player form, fatigue etc. if a player is overplayed and overtrained how it can increase the likelihood of injuries? ability to learn other positions aswell. have a game management stat for 10's, and knowledge of the set plays could be good aswell.
a world league would be great aswell, and lions tours to career mode, also the ability to accept offers for different clubs and national teams.
add a rule that you would have to coach in nz to coach the AB's etc.
ability to adjust kits and customise kits in career mode, or unlock classic kits, past kit designs could be cool also.
for training;
You could have kicking games to improve kicking, practice goal kicking to improve conversions. sprints to improve speed, defence drills to improve defence.
practice set plays to improve team understanding of moves one bug unrelated to this. when taking a conversion your only allowed 90 secs. in rugby challenge 5-10 mins in game time are eaten up by taking conversions. t
his could be changed maybe by freezing the clock , or giving a timer to put more pressure on the kicker, it would also be a great addition to control when teams can try and charge down the conversion. go to early and the kicker gets to retake.
This is the best post on this forum yet. If you want the game to be worth playing beyond a single season progressions are the key and everything above would make this a game you can play for season after season
You cant even buy players from the same league lol. as in im blues coach ans cant buy super rugby players ... boring
