Hi, enjoying the game since the newest .03 update. Just a minor issue with AI shots at goal when they have a tight shot on goal from the pocket, they seem to only ever kick straight drop punts. I have never seen ones of these go through (Probably due to how tight the gap is from that angle).
Any way they could be tweaked to snap or banana and slot a few from there?
While on set shot accuracy, quick question for the devs about User goal kicking sliders.
Im experimenting with reducing close/middle/long goal kicking accuracy, in the hope that even when I almost nail the kick meter, sometimes there will be some randomness in whether it’s gun barrel straight or just misses the goals.
but what I am finding is that reducing these 3 sliders is definitely affecting my on the run goal kicking accuracy. (without touching the On the run goal kicking slider).
So I am then increasing my on the run slider in the hope that running goal accuracy remains at original levels, but set shot accuracy reduces (at a greater rate the further out I am).
is this correct, or does the 3 different close/mid/long goal kicking sliders only affect on the run accuracy?
Hey @ptrg ,
I'll go through these one by one. At the moment the AI currently have no way of performing snaps / banana's during set shots, but something we can look into doing in the future, so I'll pass it on to the dev team and see if they can work it into a future update.
As for the sliders, the close/middle/long sliders are all effecting your players accuracy on the run, with those distances towards goals. So if you feel like you are missing too many close shots at goal, you can adjust that slider. These sliders do not effect your set shot goalkicking.
The set shot slider should adjust the base amount of green area in your set shot bar. Unfortunately at this point we don't have a way of adjusting your set shot bar based on distance to goal. It is something however, that is on our radar to do in a future update, so we are aware that players want this functionality.
Hope that helps answer your questions!
Thanks for the quick reply. Hopefully we see AI snapping goals in the near future!
When you talk about the ”set shot slider”, are you talking about each players “Goal Kick Set Shot” slider in Player Attributes?
With regards to this one, to clarify, this number (out of 100) is how big or small their “green zone” is? So if I have two set shots in a row, one with a 99 player and another with a 20 for their “GKSS”, the lower number player will have a much smaller Green Zone?
If this is correct, could I then go and lower all my teams GKSS %’s by say 40 percentage points to reduce the size of their Green Zones? (I only ever play as one team, and offline). And the result will be more near misses due to me not nailing the green spot?
The reason I ask is, I much prefer to have a smaller Green Zone than a kick meter speed increase (which results in waaay too many OOTFs due to maxing it out into the red all the time).
And just to confirm, there is no Gameplay->Customise slider that controls the size of this Green Zone for set shots? (Only kick meter speed for all kicks yeah?)
I'd love to see the goalkicking mechanics from the 2006 game return. I believe they were the best with the ball that went side to side on the bottom of the screen and you had to time it so it lines up with the goal. The size of the goal posts (green area in AFL evo 2) changed with distance and angle and the speed of the ball changed based on the difficulty and range. All the set shots in AFL evo 2 feel the exact same as the size of the green area stays the same no matter where you are kicking from. It gives us no reason to centre the ball
Revisiting this because I just watched a video that made me aware of the fact that the AFL game that came out in 1992 had something that this one doesn't which is beyond embarrassing. The distance you were from the goal impacted how hard it was to kick the goal. It's such a simple thing that would make set shots more realistic in terms of difficulty instead of having the same size green area on the bar no matter where we kick from. The size of the green area on the set shot bar only changes depending on the type of kick you want to do
Disagree - side to side is the most unrealistic and annoying thing possible.
Instead, like you mentioned, would be much better if WW could refine what they have, and have the distance out and just as importantly, the angle, shrink the green zone size.
Then have that in conjunction with individual kicking ability which sets their default green zone size. So back men will have a smaller green zone than a forward, if taking a kick from the exact same position.
finally, to make it more user refined, a setting slider which changes the default green zone for close/mid/far would mean users could increase difficulty without having to ramp up kick boost speed (which just results in too many red zone munged kicks going out on the full).
