On PS4 playing release version (1.01), including the first player ratings update.
Numerous issues when creating/editing custom players and teams.
TEAMS:
Can't duplicate custom players. This is a frustration as I'd like to make a custom player, say Peter Matera, and be able to have him in various custom sides (like a West Coast legends side, a 1992 or 1994 premiership side, a WA state side). Currently, the only workaround is to re-make him several times, which is time consuming. A duplication option would be time saving!
Duplicating facescan players. Would really love this to be a feature. We can duplicate ingame players but lose the facescan. :/ I'd love to get some custom sides going while retaining original AFL teams.
Can't re-download some custom teams from the Community. I had to delete a Hawthorn 2014 side after I did the player ratings update, as it reset some custom players to an in-game player (I assume someone duplicated an in-game player to make someone like Sam Mitchell). So I deleted the side and tried to re-download. Got a message the team was already saved. But I have deleted it. This seems like a big bug.
Uploading custom teams. I've made a few now, but they don't update when you re-upload them. A new custom teams goes into the community. Not a big issue, but if I made a custom side and updated it, I'd like the option to simply update the one I previously uploaded or upload it as a new team.
Searching for guernseys is difficult as there's no real metadata to search by. You just have to trawl through pages and pages. Would be good to have team metadata to search by.
Crap filter - this is more of a rant. People fill up the community with complete crap. Would love to be able to just filter them out, so when I go on a search next time I don't have to see the same horrible custom teams over and over.
Custom guernseys - why can't we add custom guernseys to in-game teams? Seems counter productive to not be able to add them.
In-game guernseys - wish we could edit these to make custom ones. I'd love to use the West Coast heritage guernsey to make a predominantly blue version.
Custom shorts - please make the separate to the guernsey, so we can choose what colour they are instead of having them match a pre-designated part of the guernsey.
Custom guernseys - allow us more flexibility with colours in general. Annoying that multiple parts of the guernsey are tied together so have to be the same colour.
PLAYERS:
Commentary name - Allow a selectable/searchable list of names for commentary. I made Eric Mackenzie as a custom player but it's annoying I can't have a commentary name for him unless I spell it as "McKenzie". I should be able to select that.
Eyebrows and facial hair - mainly happens with eyebrows, but they don't appear for some time when trying to select. So time consuming and for such a small detail, seems pointless to even bother having 30 whatever different eyebrow styles. Can't you just make it one set of eyebrows and use the right stick to make them bigger/wider/shorter/whatever, like you can with face and jaw and mouth etc?
Hairstyles - can we get some old school hair styles? They're all so modern but many of us want to create some classic players. There's not a lot of option to do a balding, middle age man look of a Bruce Doull, or terrible thing on the sides, thin on top 70s/80s hairdos often had. While you're there, the beard option could be more dynamic so we can do proper, thick moustaches and just remove the beard part. Long hair is quite limited, obviously ripped from specific players like Nat Fyfe and Dyson Heppell. They're quite specific hairstyles and don't translate to an older style player, like Craig Turley.
Accessories - headbands would be a good accessory here, rather than have them tied to the two hairstyles (Fyfe and Hunt).
Boots - a bit limited, specially when there's so many eyebrow options. Not a huge deal but would be nice to do some that looked more like old Adidas boots or something. I'm sure I'll have more. :P
For this:-
Yeah, some custom players seem based off an in-game player. Here's a video of my downloaded Nick Riewoldt being reset to Max Lynch after the player ratings update. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cd4gDlp9-Y8 To. re-download you need to do a full reset of all players first...but you lose every downloaded player and team.
(Fanhub -> Player Manager -> Reset Player)
Note also that this 'Reset Player' makes it sound like you can just reset an individual player, not the whole player list. This would actually be a lot better if that were the case.... but still.... I think there should be a 'redownload' option.... or maybe just a complete separation of the in-game player relationship to a custom player once they're uploaded to the community (so the player wouldn't be reset in the first place).
Thanks for the suggestions, really extensive and in-depth! I've passed these on to the team and we'll examine these internally.
Custom team names. On Xb1 I recreated 18 state league teams so i could create a custom league. (Ideally custom competitions would be included). I made all of the teams and jumpers but was disappointed the commentators don’t say the team names even though they’re exactly the same as the original team. Would love to hear any custom team with a vfl suburb/nickname be read out.
Just following up on some points listed here by @ghostofjohnbelushi
It seems the way to do this is to move the player to your custom team, then run an 'Evo data' update. Then they'll appear back in their original team as well as your custom team (but will revert any changes you've made to the default teams).
I haven't noticed this on teams, but it's probably the same with individual players...
If you upload a player, then go to Player Manager -> Edit Player -> Reset Player (where everything gets reset), you then go to Community -> My Players to re-download your custom player (as I mentioned as a workaround above).
However, any updates to that player thereafter would upload a brand new player....not update your existing one.... Maybe that's what the team does as well (Reset the Team won't let you download and update them thereafter).
Also note that even when this isn't the case, most prompts say 'Upload/Share' instead of 'Update/Share'.... it's only once you DO that action, that it'll report whether it was Updated, or Uploaded.
Seems like this is the case for a few other things.... they're slow to load. Noticed it for Stubble, Beard, Eyebrows, Freckles, Moles, Scars, Pimples etc.
These issues are in addition to the problems already described here, here and here.
Little bit of a 'bump' for these issues (as they're not listed in the Known Issues or the 1.02 Patch Notes, there's no 'FanHub' or 'Community' section for these) … but also, something related when downloading certain players from the community.
If you download 'Chris Heffernan' or 'Mark Johnson' (both the most downloaded versions of those players), then the show up in the Delisted players as someone else. 'Xerri' - when not up to date with the latest Evo Data.
Someone else where you are up to date as on May 8th.
From this, there are issues with downloading the 'Essendon2000' team from the community that they are in. They are replaced with the names of other players in the team (like Dean Solomon, or Matthew Lloyd).
That entire team seems screwed over by this.
Previously I had only seen this occur if you had run an 'Evo Data' update after downloading potentially problematic players in the community....but this is without doing that. It's a straight download.
On a similar line of thinking.... I'm wondering what happens if someone uploads a team.... that team references custom players in the community....but the uploader of those custom players then removes those players individually.
If the team is then downloaded by someone, do those missing players have problems like this as well?
