Platform: PS4
Game Version: 1.02
I have a custom team which I’ve been building up over time (St Kilda 1990-2020, uploaded in the Community) which has a bunch of custom players in there, both made from scratch, and created off someone else’s base custom character.
I noticed that after the 1.02 patch, and the second Evo Data update (May 8), that a few of the players look different. Players like Nick Riewoldt, Brendan Goddard and Fraser Gehrig used to look really good...but now they’ve sort of reverted to look a lot more generic than before.
I’ll try to get before/after shots if I can... but its very unfortunate given the time I spent building their likenesses.
Ok, turns out my custom player’s likenesses are still there. Seems like a different sort of issue... relating to the new ‘Performance’ setting, that reduces the quality of the player likeness in the game, however that trickles over time the Edit Player screens.
Here’s what I found:-
- go to Edit Player screen, and view a custom player with detailed facial features
- start a game with ‘Performance‘ on Low (so no degradation of quality), and see that player on the ground as they are
- exit game, start a different game with ‘Performance’ set to High ( so player facial features are lacking). You can see the reduced quality custom player in there.
- exit game, go to Player Manager -> Edit Player, and notice the low quality version of the player is loaded.
I also noticed that switching the Performance value back to Low, that in game to see the high quality player... but still the low quality player when you go back to the Edit Player screen.
Ideally the player is always viewed as the High Quality version in the menus (Edit Player, or as the captain in the team select screen), irrespective of the Performance setting, or what it HAD been set to previously.
this setting should only affect what they look like in an actual game.
Thanks
Here's the example. Found that I need to fully close the game application to not see the low-res version in the player editor once this happens...
Hi @SaintSkeeta, Yep definitely looks like an issue, we'll look into fixing this in an upcoming patch. Thanks so much for the detailed steps on how to get this to happen, glad to hear that it's just a visual issue and your custom players aren't impacted.
