One aspect of the general gameplay is that it often is played at such a franatic fast pace around the ball that it falls into a pattern of button bashing at times an left to chance. When you pick up the ball and have space to run, more often than not an opposition player will catch up to tackle or be close enough to tackle. I have adjusted sliders to customise this which helps a little such as the tackle and bump distances but for ball ups and packs it is hard to create space.
I thought perhaps that there could be an option when you are in possession to at times call for a teammate to bump or fend off a nearby player so you get that extra second to dispose. this would however only really work when there is a few around the ball on the wing and less so in packs where several players could tackle. i believe this is done in fifa and could simply be for example while in position press the LB button and a A/B/Y or X to call for the type of assist. And the limit to this could be the teammate has to be within a distance. this also creates risk as he will leave his opposition player, which may result in him inevitably getting you.
To deal with pack situations, i thought perhaps there could be an ability where if you time an evade or fend off 100% perfectly (and perhaps the chance of this is 1 in 5 for high stat players, 1 in 10 for lower) and you have plenty of stamina/speed, that you have an ever so slight speed burst off that point in the direction you faded/evaded. this could be enough to break the pack and rewards you for evading but it also is risky in that if you attempt to fade/evade and get tackled you could get holding the ball/incorrect disposal.
Now in the event you had a player playing a really good quarter or game or even hot 10 minutes, perhaps that speed burst (if that is the type of player that would burst) chance/multiplier increases to 1 in 4 or 3. This could also translate into other traits or specialities of a player in the context of a game and it could even be a set of custom game settings so that it doesn't impact the core game. someone like Dusty would fend off everyday and burst away to dispose whereas someone like Selwood would break tackles but simply dispose effectively....
