I'm pretty sure this game works on a dice roll where whoever wins the roll will dominate the game. Centre bounces are certainly not decided by my ruck skill because I perfectly time it everytime and still lose. The ball spills and goes to a player from the team that won the "dice roll" by any means even if it means defying physics.
I play my friend and he beats me by close to 10 points. We play again and I beat him by close to 10 points. The winner is determined by a background dice roll because whoever loses suffers the same issues in game eg. Can't win clearences, players won't tackle etc.
The game is not worth playing if the winner is decided by the dice roll and not skill.
Will this be addressed in the next patch?
That’s no where close to the truth. Just like the AFL you (your team) just must be inconsistent
Funny how when people post their matches on the facebook afl gaming hub it's easily 85%-90% chance it's close match. If you think this isn't true pay abut more attention when you play because this happens in career and single matches and the teams don't matter it happens with all teams not just my one in career
Or even better can someone from Wicked Witch confirm either way if there is scripting or not?
Also you said my comment isn't even close to the truth. Well guess I'm not the only one.
@mar_cuz2003 I don’t get how this is scripted
Maybe just change your in game tactics and isn’t it better being close then always winning by 60 points plus
I've tried that and it doesn't change anything. I disagree with it being better than winning by 60 plus. It isn't specifically having scripting that's the issue It's the way it is obviously coded in that the opposition win everything during the momentum swings.
@mar_cuz2003 fair enough each to their own
Hi @mar_cuz2003 We don't have a predetermined winner for games or a "momentum" system and we don't make your players play worse when you are ahead. We also don't adjust the normal behaviour of the game to bias it towards a particular player such as having the ball spill towards their team. There may be factors that do favour one team over the other (such as the wind direction) but these are entirely randomised. The closest thing we have to this is the "clutch" attribute on players. The clutch attribute is intended to represent those players who can dig a bit deeper and thrive under pressure. It functions like an adrenaline boost, increasing all of that players other skills but only in situations where the player needs to dig deep, such as being behind in the last quarter. This means players with a high clutch stat can play beyond their normal ability to try to mount a final comeback. This is not restricted to the AI or a particular player and can apply to both teams. This boost also does not apply across the whole length of the game. Players experiencing the clutch bonus cannot play beyond the maximum physical ability. The absolute maximum bonus a player can receive from the clutch bonus is equivalent to 10 rating points.
Thanks! I didn't truly understand how the clutch system worked. Thank you for the definition.
Could you also explain how and what the 1 percenter attribute operates?
Thank you for taking the time to reply and explain how the clutch system.
Can you shed some light on why most games played are close games? The clutch system you have explained surely wouldn't be that much of a difference? Unless the whole team gains attributes when the clutch system is activated and not just single players?
I played my 6 year old son in a single match with the difficulty set to veteran. I absolutely belted him in the first two quarters. Then in the first centre bounce after half time, he wins it. By only pressing x (we are on ps4) I however perfectly timed my jump in the ruck and lost it somehow doing nothing different. My son then goes on to win the clearance and take a mark on his attacking 50. Still only pressing x. He obviously shanks his set shot as it falls short by about 35m but luckily his clutch player kicked it off the ground 35m out and it was such a perfect kick it found its way though a pack of players without being touched for a goal. He wins the next centre bounce and all subsequent ones until his team was pretty much caught up. All by pressing x. He was marking everything from here to Perth by pressing x when the mark button is triangle?
Is that the clutch system at work?
@mar_cuz2003 the best thing I can suggest is to drop the clutch rating on every single player expect those rated maybe 90+.
This should in theory then only boost those players during the times when their team is losing and become superhuman.
It seems that a lot of the players have a clutch rating above 70 so it seems that almost an entire team are experiencing attribute boosts of at least 7-10 points across the board at times making their comebacks hard to stop!
