Something really needs to be done about people quitting online when they’re losing. I’m in the top 15 ranked leaderboard so I’m pretty good, but not even exaggerating, 90% of the time people quit before the game is finished. I have never ever played a game where people quit as often as afl, it’s unbelievable how rare it is for someone to lose the game and play to the end. There needs to be some kind of punishment for quitting. Whether it’s you lose a lot of XP, or it counts as 2 losses, or it gets harder to find games, or even banning people who consistently quit when they’re losing. NBA 2k has something like that, where you get temporarily banned for quitting. I don’t care which option you choose, but there needs to be some kind of deterrent because at the moment there is a very bad culture of quitting when losing in the online community.

Hey @TigersBacktoBack, currently we have no way of punishing players who leave games early in online. While it's not ideal, there's not much we can do at this stage for players who want to leave the game. I guess these are the types of supporters who would leave at 3/4 time if their team is down. While it's something we would like to address, it's probably a fix that would require a number of changes to really make a difference, and something that would take a bit more time than some other fixes to the game.
In future we would like to update our online ranked matches to more than just a leaderboard, where wins and losses are more of a premium over just numbers on a scoreboard. We can't really go into any more details on this right now, or when it might be addressed, but it's something we are always considering. Thanks for the feedback, we always value in depth conversations like this one.
